A Yin & Yang Practice

with Corinna Ricard-Farzan

& Samantha Fulton

Find the space in the center,

The pulsing spaciousness

Encompassing all opposites.*

Our experience is made of opposites — two inseparable sides of one coin, each only meaningful in relation to the other: good and bad, difficult and easy, hot and cold, day and night, the list goes on. In our daily lives, we tend to favor one side of things, clinging to certain aspects of experience while avoiding or denying others. In this two-hour workshop inspired by The Radiance Sutras, we will explore our own tendencies and experiment with loosening the grip they have on us in service of coming home to Ourselves.

The practice will be two-sided, with YOU as the common thread. A warming, playful vinyasa flow (the yang side of the coin) will be followed with just as much yin: a meditative practice of long, passive holds in which we consciously move closer to discomfort, settle into it and watch what arises. Yang and yin, action and acceptance, movement and stillness — one side cannot exist without the other. Bernie Clark writes “nature demands balance. If we don’t seek it out, she will impose it upon us eventually.” This class will be bookended by chanting and infused with poetry, yoga philosophy, laughter and plenty of silence as we return to the balance that is inherent within us, the freedom beneath the pull of preference, the peace in the play of opposites.*
